Mosaic Academy is a two-day-a-week program for home-educated children kindergarten through sixth grade. We provide a curriculum that integrates the development of godly character with academic learning.
We recognize the importance of godly character as a foundation for life-long learning. With this understanding we will provide a classroom setting that incorporates positive character training with interactive academic learning. Payments of $250.00 for academic classes, and $160.00 for elective courses, are due in September and January. Applicable supply fees are due upon enrollment. How much time is required for homework on non-class days?Mosaic Academy provides a full course of study for each grade. Each student who completes the assigned work will be prepared to move into the next grade at the end of the school year. For this reason, each student should expect a full day of homework on non-school days. An average amount of work would be forty-five minutes to an hour per subject.Do have a Break Time for Lunch and Recess? We have a morning break time and a 30-minute lunch break. What is covered in the Materials Fee?The non-refundable materials fee covers the cost of all of your student's consumable books for the year. It also includes the cost of copies and other materials that are used in class each school day. What Special Programs are Offered?Applied Learning ClassThis class allows students to participate in a multi-age classroom where they are given opportunity to transfer the skills they have learned to hands-on interactive individual and group projects. Our students as a team plan, write, lay-out and raise funding for our school newspaper in this class. Students with all interests find this an exciting challenge and a way for each to bring their own interests to light. The students also grow and learn through monthly publication deadlines and a peer editing process that helps to hone their skills. At the end they have a tangible product that is a benefit to the entire student body. Parents who desire for their student to participate in our Applied Learning Class should complete the Applied Learning Application. (Available upon request from the school office.) Space is limited. One-on-One Learning This class is available for our students whose learning needs are best met in an individualized setting. Our tutors are available both class days to work on the core lessons with students. We develop Individual Education Plans for the student who needs more focused attention or adaptation in a particular subject area. This class is available for our struggling learner as well as for our accelerated learners. (Available upon request in the school office. There is an additional monthly charge for this service.) (Applications available on our website or through the school office.) Space is limited. Is Bible taught in the classroom? Each class will have a devotional time during their class day. Each teacher is responsible for selecting the materials used during this time, and the devotion will vary from class to class. What is your teacher to student ratio?Mosaic Academy caps our class sizes at 10-12 students. In some cases an even smaller teacher student ration is maintained.Does Mosaic Academy combine more than one grade in a classroom?Yes, class make-up is dependent on enrollment, and we often combine grades such as a first and second grade classroom, third and fourth, and so on. We do ensure that sufficient time is allotted for each grade's specific grade level concepts. We have found that mixed age levels promote student learning both by adding variety of perspective to discussions and by using co-operative learning and peer tutoring.Tuition and RefundsA family wishing to apply to Mosaic Academy must submit an application and fee of $35.00 per student. To complete a student’s admission to Mosaic Academy, the non-refundable materials fee must also be submitted. (See fee schedule for rate.
